Euro Cylinders
Need a euro cylinder replaced in Norwich and the surrounding areas?
Euro cylinder locks are the most common profile design, used predominantly on UPVC and Composite doors throughout the UK and Europe in both commercial and domestic properties. Euro cylinders are a separate part of the multipoint lock and the lock case itself and are sometimes referred to as the ‘door barrel’. It is a self-contained unit that is fitted through the door, the euro profile case and the euro handle and when in place turns the actual lock and its component parts into place. The basic construction is that of a series of pins which meet with the key pattern to allow the barrel to turn. Turning the barrel means the cam turns in the centre, and this then turns the locks in your door.
Doors that have been fitted some years ago are fitted with the older style euro cylinders that have little in the way of in-built security features. Today’s euro cylinders have enhanced security features such as anti-pick, anti-drill and both bump and snap resistance features built into the design as standard. A kitemark and star rating system is applied to these locks to show the security against common attack methods, with the levels of protection and types, ranging from non-rated, 1-star and 3-star. We are able to assess the security level of your existing euro cylinder and can then upgrade it depending on the level of security you desire.
Other reasons for replacing euro cylinders may be that it is hard to push the key in, you may have had your keys stolen or been burgled, had the lock vandalised (glue in the lock) or maybe you have just moved in and want the lock changed for peace of mind. In any of these situations we are able to help.
